Cookie policy

Last updated on Nov 8, 2023

So, what’s our cookie policy? We love cookies! The tea and biscuits kind, and the better web experience kind. But we get it. Not everyone loves the idea of website cookies. So, we’ve set out our Hub Controls cookie policy in a way that’s easier to understand. First, we’ll let you know what different types of cookies there are, how we use cookies here at HubControls to improve your user experience, and most importantly, we’ll explain how you can control your own cookie permissions to suit your own preferences (whether you’re using our website or any other)!

This cookie policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we use any and all personal information that is shared with us (when you sign up for example). If you have any questions or comments related to the way we use cookies please contact us at privacy@hubcontrols.com.

In brief: by continuing to browse or use our website, you agree that we can store and access cookies as described in this Cookie Policy.

What are cookies anyway?

A cookie is a small piece of data sent by a website’s server to the browser on your computer or mobile device. In short, they are small pieces of text sent by your web browser by almost every website you visit. A cookie text file is stored in your web browser and allows us or a third party to recognise your browser so we can make your next visit easier. They also enable us to retrieve among other things, your user settings and preferences.

In addition, cookies help us monitor our visitors’ behaviour, helping us figure out how to make our site easier to navigate, more enjoyable to look at and even what lots of users hate (hint: cookie policy pages.. no-one sticks around here for long!). What’s important to keep in mind is that cookies don’t give us any access at all to your device or personal information, other than the limited cookie specific data you choose to allow your browser  share with us about your visit. That’s it.

Cookies can be either  “persistent” or “session” cookies. “Session” cookies are stored on memory and never written to disk. When the browser is closed, they are permanently deleted. Furthermore, if the cookies contain an expiry date, it is considered a “persistent” cookie, which will be removed on the specified date. Additionally, they can be deleted manually. You can accept or decline them. They are accepted by default by most browsers.

What type of cookies do we use and why do we use them?

Strictly Necessary/Technical cookies

We use cookies that are strictly necessary for the smooth operation of our website and services. Consequently, our website cannot function properly without these type of cookies being allowed. This is same for every website you come across, so we wouldn’t suggest you worry too much about these (even if you are a secret agent that likes your drinks shaken, not stirred). Absolutely no personal data is shared with the website in this scenario. However, just be aware, if you do disable all cookies, it will likely affect your ability to use our services. Not in a good way.

Analytical Cookies

Analytical cookies are set by Hub Controls Ltd and certain third parties (Google Analytics). These super fun cookies are all about improving user experience. They help us to understand how visitors access our website, read our content and interact with our services. Basically these cookies tell us where people are coming from when they say hello (from search engines like Google or social media sites like Facebook etc). They help us collect statistical information about our visitors, such as whether they have visited the site before and which pages they view. Don’t worry, we still don’t know your name or see your personal data, we just care about user statistics (yes, in this case, you’re JUST a statistic! We’re sorry!).

Furthermore, we use analytical cookies to determine the kind of content and services our visitors value most. By understanding which content is useful or interesting, we can improve our website offerings, and recommend content that people actually like: enhancing your user experience.

Managing Your Cookies Permissions

Cookies are meant to improve your user experience, but some users prefer to set restrictions on the types of cookies that can be stored on their device. That should always be your decision. By modifying your personal browser preferences, you have the choice to accept all types of cookies, to accept only some types, to be notified when it is set, or to reject all cookies.

For further, specific information about how to do so on your own device, please press Cookie Settings button above. Please keep in mind though, if you do choose to set your browser settings to block ALL Cookies (including strictly necessary ones) you may not be able to access or use all or parts of our website or some functions might not work the way we intended them to. If this happens, just make sure to check you have set your browser to allow ‘Strictly Necessary/technical Cookies’.

Additionally, if you want to remove previously stored Cookies, you can manually delete them at any time. However, this will not prevent the websites from placing further Cookies on your device unless and until you adjust your Internet browser settings as we described above.

In addition, to opt-out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites, please visit here. On this website you’ll find information about a browser plug-in that can be installed to prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics.
